Operational Implications of Initial Xcaper Filter Acrolein Test Results

The Xcaper Professional and Civilian filters have demonstrated that they provide full protection against 1 ppm of Acrolein in initial testing. In a four hour test against 1 ppm of Acrolein gas, the professional filter absorbed 100% of the Acrolein for the full four hours. During the test, the filter was directly massaged once per minute (simulating manipulation by the wearer). When directly massaged once per minute, the Civilian filter also absorbed 100% of Acrolein in two separate 30 minute tests.

This data indicates that the Xcaper Professional filter, already in use by firefighters fighting brush and forest fires, provides more than protection against smoke alone. It also provides full protection against the most prevalent toxic gas found in these situations.

Additionally, the Civilian filter performance indicates that it provides important protection against Acrolein inhalation when worn by families seeking to escape housing areas engulfed by smoke from wildfires.
